The Future Problem Solving Programme

Future Problem Solving is a programme which teaches students from Yr 4 – 13 critical, creative and ethical thinking skills. Students grapple with global issues or identify significant problems in their own community. They then apply a creative problem solving process to come up with an action plan to solve their identified underlying problems.

Visit the website www.fpsnz.co.nz for more information.

Future Problem Solving Evaluation

Our national evaluators provide quality comprehensive written feedback to the teams to enhance their skills and provide them with suggestions for further skills development.

The FPS students work on three global issues a year. They complete a booklet that is then sent into the National Office and distributed to the evaluators. The booklets are received from the students at the end of Term One and Two and in mid-September.

Evaluators receive a bundle of booklets, generally 6 – 8 booklets (fewer in the first year) and have three weeks to complete the evaluations and return the booklets to the National Office.

In early October, a second round of evaluation to choose teams to attend the National Finals is held at the National office in Orewa. Evaluators are invited to attend this day if they wish. Evaluators are also invited to evaluate at the National Finals, held in Auckland at the beginning of November.

Welcome to the FPSNZ Evaluators
e-Learning Course

This unique online workshop is designed to provide in-depth training for people who would like to become evaluators for the Future Problem Solving Programme.

This site enables us to provide opportunities for anyone in New Zealand to become an evaluator, especially if you have been unable to attend onsite training workshops.

In this course you will learn about how the programme works and how students complete their booklets to show how they have explored a major global issue, such as Climate Change or Media Impact. You will learn how to provide feedback to students taking part in the programme, by evaluating a booklet completed by an actual team.

On successful completion of this course you will become an accredited evaluator with FPSNZ and will have the skills to provide support, encouragement and feedback to some of the brightest young minds in the country.
